In order to format, we first need a computer that we will format. Then it should be USB or DVD, depending on which path we choose to format the computer. If you want to format from CD to your computer, DVD CD is required to install the system in Flash Memory via USB. In addition to these materials, you must have the installation file of the operating system you will install. Since we will show the Windows 10 formatting process in this article, we will explain the processes through the Windows 10 installation file. Finally, if you are going to perform formatting with a USB Flash Memory, you need to download the application called Rufus, which converts your USB Flash memory to a CD.



In order to format Windows 10, firstly, the Windows 10 installation file with the .ISO extension you must meet your needs. You can download the limited free version of this operating system, which is sold under license, from the Microsoft site or you can download the paid full version from Microsoft by purchasing the license fee. If you are going to format via DVD CD, insert a writable blank DVD CD into the drive and drag your ISO file to the CD. Then burn the files to CD with burning programs or with the burn option if your computer has the ability to print. Of course, since the needs such as DVD and CD are not needed in computers produced today, they are not included. For this reason, we will explain on USB Flash Memory. When you run the application called Rufus, a small window will open. There will be a device – section menu at the top of the window. From here, you should select your USB Flash Drive. In the boot selection section, you should select the ISO file belonging to the operating system you want to be installed. The most important part in this application is the section called disk partition layout. In this section you need to know if your computer has UEFI support. If you have UEFI support, you need to select the GPT or MBR option. These terms are related to the disk formatting partition of the computer. After making your selection, you can print the image of the operating system in the USB Flash Memory.


You need to restart your computer after the printing process is finished. You should get to the BIOS screen before the reboot screen goes through. It is necessary to set the startup disk to your USB Flash Drive in the BIOS screen. For this, because the BIOS screen of each computer contains differences, you can find out how to do it by re-searching your computer model with a term such as setting the BIOS startup disk. Assuming you have selected the startup disk, save the settings with the F10 key and exit. Your computer will restart. After this startup, a warning message will appear on your screen in the form of press a key to boot.


At this point, let the process continue by pressing any key on the keyboard. In the first part, there will be sections such as language settings and keyboard language settings. Here we choose Turkish. If you want another language, you can choose that language. Then click on the next button at the bottom right. Click the Download Now button on the next screen and start the installation process. The installation process will take 1 – 2 minutes. Next, a screen will appear where it will ask you to enter the license code. If you have a license code, enter it. If not, continue by clicking the I Don’t Have a Product Key option. After this process, you need to select which version should be installed for Windows 10. You can choose according to your usage level. After selection, accept the terms of contract screen.


In the next step, you will see the option to install Windows preserving the settings and custom installation. Here we select the custom install part. If you want to create a C or D drive on your computer afterwards, you are doing the formatting process. Before doing all these actions, wipe all loaded disks. Then create one or more discs by giving the memory size. Then click on the C drive and press the next button. If you click somewhere else instead of the C drive, your operating system will be installed on that drive. Incompatibility problem arises with many applications. So click on the C drive and press the next button. After doing all these operations, the computer will now carry out the processes on its own. All you have to do is wait in front of the computer and resume your work when the format is finished.
