Jazz guard Mike Conley not ready to return, will miss Game 2 vs. Clippers

June 10 (UPI) — Utah Jazz veteran point guard Mike Conley was ruled out for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night due to a right hamstring strain.

Conley, who also sat out Utah’s 112-109 win in Game 1 against the Clippers on Tuesday, suffered the injury during the Jazz’s series-ending Game 5 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on June 2.

“Hopefully we’ll get him back as quickly as possible,” Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said earlier this week. “But those [hamstring injuries] are hard to predict.”

The 33-year-old Conley, who was an NBA All-Star selection for the first time this season, missed significant time in the regular season because of hamstring issues. He was sidelined for six games in February and nine games in late April and May due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Conley averaged 17.4 points and 8.6 assists for the top-seeded Jazz in his team’s first-round playoff series against the Grizzlies.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series between the Jazz and Clippers is scheduled for Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Jazz have a 1-0 series lead over the Clippers.
