Squid Game To Become Netflix Reality Show, With Real Players – And You Can Apply

Squid Game might have just been renewed for a second series on Netflix, but it doesn’t stop there, apparently.

We’ve all wondered what we would have done if we found ourself on the dystopian game show, right? Well, now’s your chance, because Squid Game is officially becoming a Netflix reality show, with 456 players competing for a huge prize of $4.56 million (£3.8 million). Woah.

Squid Game: The Challenge is officially in production by the streaming platform, as announced at the World Media Festival on Tuesday June 14. A trailer for the show launched on YouTube the same day – and it looks like players will be getting a pretty authentic Squid Game experience (minus all the death, obviously).

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“Do you want to play a game? Join Squid Game: The Challenge, a Netflix Reality competition series. Casting now open at SquidGameCasting.com,” it was captioned.

The trailer – which shows clips of players in their red suits, and some of the most memorable Squid Game challenges including the tug of war and the infamous doll – reiterates: “The biggest Netflix show ever becomes the biggest reality show ever… with our biggest prize ever. 456 players. $4.56million. The biggest risk is not playing.”

It will remain to be seen how like the Netflix drama the reality version will be, but the show is obviously keen to reassure that all contestants will leave with their lives – though it sounds like the social side of the show will be similar to the original.

The website explains further. “You’ve seen the drama, now it’s your chance to take part in Netflix’s biggest ever social experiment! This supersized unscripted show turns the scripted world of the drama into reality,” it reads.

“Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what’s coming next. Here they’ll compete in a series of heart-stopping games in order to become the sole survivor* and walk away with a life-changing cash prize.

“With a fortune up for grabs, who will be an ally, who will you trust, and who will you betray in this ultimate test of character? *Please note: Win or lose, all players will leave unscathed. But if you win, you win big!

Casting is open to English language speakers from anywhere in the world. So do you fancy yourself the next Gi-hun?
