It ended in tears for a brother and sister as they will spend the rest of their lives in prison for the ritualistic murder and rape of a two-year-old in a Midrand hotel. The Johannesburg high court convicted Esther Mwenda Brown and Mike Mwenda Brown for the murder of Athalia Bombando, who was raped and killed in a hotel room in Waterfall, Midrand.
The child was the daughter of Esther Mwenda Brown and the niece of Mike Mwenda Brown. The pair are believed to have ritually murdered the toddler. A one-year-old child who was in the room with them was luckily rescued before they could complete the ritual after The siblings, who lived in Bryanston, had checked into the hotel that morning.
The father of the victim, David Bombando, who was left traumatized by the incident noted his satisfaction with the judges decision after months of confusion regarding the death of his little daughter and what his wife and her brother were both doing in a hotel room.
