Former Kano Varsity Lecturer And Professor Of Theology Found Dead In The US Alongside A Woman

59-year-old Marinus Iwuchukwu, a former lecturer at a university in Kano, Nigeria, who is an Associate Professor of Theology at the Dusquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America (USA) was found dead alongside a woman at his home.

The woman was identified as Charce Dunn.

The bodies along Thorncrest Drive, Wilkins Township, Pittsburg after an alleged domestic disturbance around 10:00am on Tuesday.

The Allegheny County Police, stated that neighbours called the officers to check on the well-being of a couple inside their home. An information was received that the male in the house was stabbed and the female in the house had a gun on her.

Both the professor and the 50-year-old-woman appeared to have sustained laceration and the woman having an apparent self-inflicting gunshot wound on her.

The police noted that the case is being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide.

The Catholic University where the professor worked and specialised in interreligious dialogue, inclusive religious pluralism, and media and religion, condole with the family and friends of the late lecturer.

Gabriel Welsch, spokesperson of the university, stated that this is a tragedy for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the professor’s colleagues, students, friends and loved ones.

Before coming to the US, Iwuchukwu was a lecturer who had taught undergraduate courses in world religions and culture; Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and dialogue among other religions in Kano State varsity, Nigeria.
