The story of a man who has now been identified as Tairus Maina Gikonyo, whose car plunged into Juja Dam shocked Kenyans as per what the witnesses who witnessed the accident said.
Another witness by the name Mwangi and who happens to be the friend of Tairus has revealed what they last spoke before the accident happened.
According to Mwangi he spoke with Gikonyo, 43, a resident of Kahawa west who told him that he was going to Ruiru to meet his girlfriend. Mwangi further revealed that Gikonyo had two partners one living at Kahawa West and the other at Makongeni Estate in Thika.
“He only told me he was going to meet his lover and that we’ll talk later that day” Mwangi said.
Gikonyo according to onlookers who witnessed the accident, reversed his car and despite warnings from Motorist who hooted their vehicles in an attempt to warn him, the car plunged into the dam. He only stopped the car once before he started reversing for the second time and the hooting from other motorists fell on deaf ears. The car sunk in the dam leading to the death of Gikonyo and his girlfriend.
It has also been established that Gikonyo and the woman (aged between 20 to 24 years) who was with him in the car had earlier been spotted at an entertainment joint at Ruiru. The bodies of the two were retrieved on Wednesday. The fatal plunge happened on January 17 and more details of the accident continue to emerge.
