Just In: Ruto’s CS Kipchumba Murkomen Officially Replaced in the Senate

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has officially been replaced at the Elgeyo Marakwet Senate. Murkomen quit his position as the senator to join president Ruto’s cabinet.

Following his decision to quit the seat, the IEBC announced the seat vacant and planned for a senatorial by election. The by election took place on January 5th where UDA’s William Kisang won the elections.

Kisang garnered 41,378 votes to clinch the seat while his closest competitor of the PPD party Tim Kipchumba came in second with 38,151 votes in the race that attracted six candidates.

Today, Thursday, January 19, 2023 William Kisanga has been sworn in as the Elgeyo Marakwet senator replacing Murkomen.

Kipsang becomes the 2nd Senator to serve Elgeyo Marakwet County. Kisanga had served the county in another capacity as the Marakwet west MP where he served the constituency to greater heights.

His new seat however, will put him in the limelight as he is set to fill big shoes as Murkomen had set the bar high in terms of development and his contributions to the senate.
