Troops decimate terrorists, recover weapons in Boko Haram’s failed attack

Last Sunday, January 15, 2023, the brave soldiers of Sector 3 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in Monguno local government area of Northern Borno senatorial district wiped out dozens of suspected Boko Haram terrorists in an unsuccessful effort to enter their base.

“Little more than a week had passed since Governor Babagana Zulum invaded the council area as part of his second term campaign.”

“While denying the freedom of movement and action to members of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) and their Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) counterpart, troops continued to exhibit acts of bravery, tenacity, and resilience; however,” due to a lack of a communications network, information on the attack was not made available until Captain Babatunde Zubairu.

The encounter was disclosed in a news release sent to our correspondent on Thursday night by Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI AND MULTINATIONAL JOINT TASK FORCE.

“Following credible intelligence reports on the activities of terrorists, own troops in conjunction with the Hybrid Forces swiftly and professionally responded to an infiltration attempt by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists along the Bakassi Response Area in Monguno town where 2 of the terrorists were neutralized while some fled in total disarray with severe gunshot wounds,” the statement from the commander reads.

“Five recently obtained terrorist motorcycles and an AK-47 rifle with two filled magazines were among the items taken into custody.”
