Currently, the independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC) is literally not functional following the exit of six out of the seven commissioners who include former chairperson Wafula Chebukati. Chebukati and the last group of commissioners left the anniversary towers based on Tuesday last week.
And even the one commissioner who is still standing, Irene Masit, is already suspended by president William Ruto. Today, commissioner Irene Masit held a crucial meeting in Nairobi county that took the better part of the afternoon.
According to her lawyer Donald Kipkorir, Masit will be appearing before the Aggrey Muchelule led tribunal and will be cross examining former IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati. She will be putting Chebukati to test in a bid to prove her innocence before the tribunal.
“Today, I spent whole afternoon at my house with IEBC Commissioner Irene Masit prepping for tomorrow’s Cross-Examination of Wafula Chebukati, Abdi Guliye abd Boya Molu at Muchelule Tribunal. It will be exciting, exhilarating and cathartic,” her lawyer Donald Kipkorir said.
