Tunji Abayomi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that politicians everywhere are “sinners,” but Nigeria needs a “sinner” who can develop the country, make money, and use the money to lift people out of poverty.
However, Abayomi, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo State, stated that there must be a balance between morality and competence.
He made these comments during an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
Tunji said, “Politicians are sinners everywhere in the world. Only sinful men can save society from sin because they understand the effects, consequences, and structure of sin, as well as how to manage them. You’re not going to get very far if you focus on holy men. That is the reality if you look at world history.
“There will be some balance; a sinner, but not a murderer. Who among the sinners can provide us with the best solution to the problem that this country is facing today?
“The primary concern should be with Nigeria, specifically, what Nigeria should be.”
