Former Governor Oparanya on Why Western Kenya Voted For President Ruto In 2022

The leader of the Azimio Associated Party currently asserts that President William Ruto promised his region around 30% of the national cake, a promise that, in his opinion, has not been kept.

Oparanya said that the 30% meant that they would get seven cabinet jobs instead of the three that they have already won from Ruto’s administration.

Oparanya claims that these promises, which he now criticizes as being useless, were some of the factors that led Western Kenyans to actively back Kanya Kwanza in the election last year.

We were told that if Ruto were elected president, Western would get 30% of the nation’s cake. Seven out of the 22 Cabinet slots would therefore be assigned to the region. Isn’t it unjust that the only Cabinet jobs we received were three? One of Oparanya was questioned.
