Gov’t Bans all Public Schools From Selling Uniforms and Textbooks to Form Ones

School uniform sales are prohibited by the government as Mwalimu Forum Reports During form one admissions, the government, through the trade CS Moses Kuria, has banned all public schools from selling school supplies to parents.

For example, the government will be able to crack down on all suppliers who work with schools to overcharge parents.

Due to the fact that parents can now purchase textbooks and uniforms from any supplier of their choice, these deals will benefit all suppliers.

The expenses incurred by parents will decrease as a result of these measures.

Due to the fact that schools require parents to exclusively purchase school uniforms and textbooks from the school and not from any other location the CS added, parents have been experiencing high costs over the past few years.

I can tell all schools to focus on academics and let parents choose where to buy learning materials and uniforms.

The government prohibits schools from selling uniforms. According to the CS, schools have no business selling textbooks and uniforms to parents or students.

The new textbook policy will guarantee that all other potential distributors and manufacturers will have the same opportunities, ending the dominance of one distributor and opening doors to employment for others.

Schools have been directing parents to purchase uniforms from the supplier they have sourced, while others have been directing parents to purchase all required items from specific traders, which has resulted in a reduction in competition and an increase in item prices.

The National Parents Association (NPA) cautioned school principals against violating the 2019 Competition Act by requiring parents to purchase uniforms from specific suppliers or schools.

The Kenyan Competition Authority has instructed all school principals to allow parents to purchase school supplies and uniforms from the suppliers of their choice, thereby lowering costs.
