Reasons Why United ‘Should Sign De Jong Ahead Of Declan Rice Amid Links’ To Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been linked with several players in this January transfer window. Already Cristiano Ronaldo left for the Al Nasser side this winter in huge blow to Erik ten Hag. But the Dutchman managed to bring in Wout Weghorst from Burnely on loan until end of the season.

Despite having former Lyon academy graduate Martial the red’s aren’t depending on him as his an injury prone player. His now out in the treatment room struggling with a knock he picked in the Manchester derby recently.

Definitely coming into the summer the Old Trafford giants have been linked with Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. And the Nigerian international Osimhen from Napoli. But another area of concern for Erik ten Hag is the midfield.

Especially with Scott dropping down the pecking order after the arrival of £70m former Real Madrid ace Casemiro back in last summer. Scott has been linked with a move to Newcastle United as per Sunsport report the recently.

While Donny Van de Beek has not proven to Erik ten Hag of his abilities to start regularly in his team. Fred is another player who has found himself coming in as a substitute as Erik ten Hag will prefer Eriksen, Bruno and Casemiro in most matches to start.

With that said and done United have been linked with De Jong in Barcelona and Declan Rice at West Ham. We then take a look as to why red devils will most likely be in a good position to sign a well playing De Jong ahead of the England international.

Firstly, De Jong has played under Erik ten Hag so he understand better what it takes to excel under the Dutchman. He moved to Laliga giants from Ajax when the two enjoyed a successful time together.

Secondly, Declan Rice could be priced by Hammers in huge fee of more than £100m while De Jong may exit Barcelona with as low as £70m. That makes red devils acquire the services of the young and talented midfielder at a lower price than Declan.
