Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president, harshly criticized Mount Kenya musicians who supported the Kenya Kwanza alliance during the election campaign last year.
The DP criticized Mt Kenya musicians who supported the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition during the 2018 General Election while speaking to mourners on Monday, January 23, 2023, in Gatundu during the burial of Pauline Nyokabi, the older sister of Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Investments, Trade, and Industry Moses Kuria.
“When things were very difficult, all musicians gospel and secular in this region they abandoned us for money. But this young man and Muigai Njoroge stood for what they believe in,” Gachagua said.
All Mt. Kenya musicians, with the exception of Ngaruiya Junior and Muigai wa Njoroge, allegedly abandoned Kenya Kwanza for Azimio, according to Gachagua.
The DP also singled out Ben Githae in his outburst, criticizing him while asserting that the artist misled the ‘old man’ about his popularity among Mount Kenya voters.
