Gunmen Attack PDP Campaign Rally In Enugu

At least one person was reported dead and several others injured as unknown gunmen attacked a campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State on Wednesday.

A source told Daily Post that the assailants stormed Awgu Ward one campaign venue of the PDP and opened fire on party members.

The tragic Enugu West rally of the PDP was attended by dignitaries, such as Engr. Osita Ngwu, the party’s senatorial candidate, Chief Anayo Onwuegbu, House of Reps candidate for Awgu/Aninri/Oji-River Federal Constituency, many other candidates and party members.

Peter Obi Visits Gombe State

The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed optimism to build a new Nigeria, noting that other political parties are built on corruption.

Obi said this on Wednesday, when his presidential campaign council arrived Pantami stadium in Gombe State, to solicit for votes, noting that the solution was in Labour Party.

Punch reports that Obi earlier met with Gombe women at the International Hotel Conference hall where he sought for their support, stressing that they should use their Permanent Voter Cards to bring the right change to the country.

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has described as empty the threat by some politicians to deal with him when they eventually win the 2023 presidential election.

He explained that his political crime, to such people, was his insistence on equity, fairness and justice to be practiced within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which they consider as too tough a demand to satisfy.

Wike spoke on Wednesday at Community Secondary School 1, Mogho Town, venue of the campaign flag-off rally by the Rivers State PDP Campaign Council in Gokana local government area of the State.

Tinubu Speaks About Fuel Scarcity

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has blamed the lingering fuel scarcity and hike in the fuel price in the country on the handiwork of some saboteurs.

Tinubu spoke on Wednesday, during the presidential campaign held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Many Nigerians have been groaning over the scarcity of fuel and the hike in the pump price ranging from N270 to N400 per litre in recent weeks.

The flag bearer who spoke in Yoruba language while addressing the crowd said there was a deliberate move by some people he described as saboteurs to derail the coming elections.

INEC Speaks About Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reassured of a free, fair, credible and hitch-free 2023 general election.

INEC National Commissioner retired Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Alkali said this on Wednesday in Abuja at a One-day National Dialogue organised by Cleen Foundation with the theme: “Security Agencies and Nigeria’s 2023 Election”.

Alkali said that the INEC was prepared to deliver on its mandate without fear or bias.
