Gachagua Makes U-turn on Dealing With Raila, Tells Ruto Who to Send Instead

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has now identified the people who should be handed the job of dealing with Azimio La Umoja chief Raila Odinga.

The DP has been concerned about Raila’s recent activities, as the former Prime Minister fights the government for allegedly rigging him out.

Raila has been holding anti-government rallies, where he has been accusing President William Ruto of also trying to unilaterally reconstitute the IEBC.

Gachagua now says that he should be left to a group of young allies of Ruto, whom, according to him, are best equipped to sink the former Prime Minister.

He says that it is the same team that prevented Raila from winning the presidency last year, and now wants Ruto to unleash it on the opposition leader.

“Kimani (Ichung’wah), Ndindi (Nyoro) and all those others, that group that sunk Azimio, system and deep state. It has not gone anywhere under the chairmanship of Kimani Ichung’wah, revive that team,” he said on Sunday.

He made the remarks while accompanying Ruto to Narok, at a time when Raila’s rallies are getting more intense and are being spread to the counties.

Gachagua’s remark comes as a U-turn from his earlier stand, where he said that he is fit enough to tackle Raila, urging Ruto to let him handle the job.

But the remark, which he made last Sunday, was met with a mocking response from Raila, who told him that he is nothing compared to him.

Raila, who was addressing a rally in Kamukunji last Monday, told Gachagua that he doesn’t measure up to him politically and should stop daring him.

“Gachagua is nothing before me. I was in prison when he was worshipping Nyayo (former President the late Daniel Moi). He doesn’t measure up to me in any way,” the leader had told his supporters.
