Relief For Ruto as Raila Makes an Announcement About Street Protests

Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga has now revealed that he is not planning on unleashing street protests against President William Ruto.

Raila has been holding rallies against Ruto, whom he is accusing of illegally occupying his position after rigging him out in the concluded election.

But he has announced that he is not considering demonstrations, suggesting that he is very keen on using peaceful ways of forcing Ruto to comply.

Raila has said that he will use peaceful avenues in his ongoing activities, but has cautioned the government against trying to threaten and intimidate him.

“We have rights. You cannot take away Kenyan’s right to the leader of their choice…they have a right to the leadership they elected. We are firm. We want peace and justice,” he said in Jacaranda yesterday.

His remarks were echoed by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who is the Azimio Third in Command, who called for discipline in the anti-Ruto activities.

The former Vice President said that they will hold peaceful rallies until they get what they want, maintaining that justice must prevail.

“We will insist on high discipline in accordance with the Constitution, which gives Kenyans authority to hold peaceful demonstrations until justice happens,” he said.

This comes as a relief for Ruto, who has been concerned that the rallies might turn into violent encounters accompanied by destruction of property.

The President has warned that his government will not allow such, announcing that he will not let a few people slow down the country’s development pace.
