Yesterday, former first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta answered back president William Ruto and other Kenya Kwanza alliance leaders who had been trading blows on her family over what was alleged to be her family’s history of not paying tax.
According to the former first lady, the government should instigate legal mechanisms to collect any tax that they think her family has not paid instead of castigating the Kenyatta family in political rallies.
Speaking during a church service, president William Ruto has appeared to hit back on the tax debate few hours later. He says that he is very happy because everyone in the country has now agreed that tax payment is a must.
He says that going forward, nobody will be exempted from paying tax irrespective of their status in the society.
“I am happy that as a country we have all agreed and built a consensus that irrespective of status, there will be no wavering of taxes for anyone … so that we can save our country from debt,” he said.
