LP Campaign Spokesman Confirms Authenticity Of Leaked Obi, Oyedepo Audio

Daily Trust reports that Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for the Labor Party Presidential Campaign, has verified the authenticity of the audio tape, released by Peoples Gazette, which featured a conversation between his principal, Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church. In it, Obi pleaded for Oyedepo’s support to get votes from Christians in South-West and Kwara for the 2023 election because he described it as a “religious war”.

However, Okonkwo defended Obi by adding context to the conversation. Apparently, Obi had visited the Olofa of Offa who is a Muslim and was advised to seek Oyedepo’s support in order to combat religious intolerance from APC. According to Okonkwo, Obi never showed any form of discrimination during his campaign tours as he had a Muslim Vice Presidential Candidate and was himself a former APC member before resigning due to their religious intolerance.

Earlier on Saturday when contacted over the phone about this matter by Daily Trust, Director General of Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organization Balogun Akin Osuntokun simply said: “I have nothing to say on this”.
