Prospective Manchester United owner and OGC Nice Chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been chastised by Nice captain Dante following the club’s disappointing season in Ligue 1.
Nice captain Dante has slammed Sir Jim Ratcliffe and urged the Ineos chief to focus on the Ligue 1 club instead of trying to buy Manchester United.
Ratcliffe, 70, is considered one of the frontrunners in a takeover saga that threatens to drag on into the summer.
He and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani have submitted proposals for United in three separate rounds of bidding since the Glazer family announced their search for “strategic alternatives” in November.
Although it is unclear when a preferred bidder will actually be announced, it is thought that Ratcliffe is most likely to be chosen over Sheikh Jassim.
Brazilian midfielder Dante has slammed Ratcliffe over the team’s current plight in the aftermath of his attempts to buy another football club, despite owning a Ligue 1 outfit that is currently ninth on the league log in the French League.
“I think at some point you have to be clear in what you’re saying. To maintain a project, maybe you need to speak less about objectives and work in silence to create an environment of competition. Because the expectation is even bigger, and then after, people are frustrated,” Dante told L’Equipe in France.
The OGC Nice captain elaborated on the best recommendations his team needs from Ratcliffe before the new season begins.
He discussed, “The best thing to do is to prepare as quickly as possible for next season in order to start it well. Do you remember how many players came in at the end of the transfer window last summer? Six left, and six arrived. It’s difficult in these conditions. Simply, we mustn’t make the same errors.”
“If someone wants my opinion, the earlier we organise ourselves, the better it will be. If we want to aim higher, we have to anticipate things and put the values of the organisation in place,” Dante recommended.
