Arteta’s 3 Full Seasons As Arsenal Manager Have Seen The Club Move From 8th To 2nd On The EPL Table

Mikel Arteta was hired on December 20, 2019, to succeed Unai Emery as the head coach of Arsenal’s first team. Arsenal finished sixth in the Premier League table that season. For about 100 days, the season was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, Arteta helped Arsenal finish the season on a high note by helping them win the FA Cup and earn a spot in the UEFA Europa League.

Mikel Arteta’s 3 full seasons as Arsenal manager: 20/21, 8th place, 61 points; 21/22, 5th place, 69 points; and 22/23, 2nd place, 84 points.

During the 2020–21 season, Arsenal kicked off the season by defeating league champions Liverpool in the FA Community Shield, which ended up being their only trophy.

During the 2021–22 season, Arsenal did not participate in any European competition for the first time since 1995–96, owing to an eight-place finish the previous season, but ended the season in 5th place, three paces better than 2020–21.

2022–23 was the best so far under Arteta, as they finished second after spending most of their time in first place. Arsenal wouldn’t have thought they would be in the title race, but there’s room for improvement in the squad. Now that Champions League football is guaranteed, signings are expected to help with squad depth.

Arsenal sporting director Edu thinks that club owners the Kroenkes are willing to support his transfer plans involving Mikel Arteta in order to take the team to a “different level” this summer.

After challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title this season, the Gunners are keen to launch another challenge next year. According to the Evening Standard, their first aim as they look to bolster their roster is Declan Rice, the West Ham captain. Arsenal is also considering bringing in a second midfielder, a defender, and perhaps a forward as they prepare to compete in the Champions League once more.
