‘Govt Bill Is Unconstitutional’ Court told to Nullify Ruto’s Govt Bill Days to Parliament Voting

It has been requested that the Court strike down the Kenya Kwanza finance bill, which would alter several taxes.

Senator Okiya Omtatah of Busia filed his case with the High Court on Friday.

Omtatah claims that the Kenya Kwanza bill is unconstitutional and he provides an argument to support this claim.

This will be President Ruto’s first Budget since he took office in September, when he replaced President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, an activist, has disregarded President William Ruto’s plea on Sunday that he not go to court to dispute the proposed housing charge payment under the Finance Bill, 2023.

Yesterday, Vice President Rigathi Gachagua lashed out at the opposition for diverting the President’s attention away from fulfilling his campaign pledges.

Unions and opposition leaders have criticized the government’s plan, arguing that the proposed taxes on homes will be difficult to implement given the current economic climate in Kenya and the fact that a similar attempt failed previously.
