Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag have spoken through video conference several times.
Ten Hag has determined that Hojlund, 20, is a realistic target for United, who are operating on the presumption that Tottenham would not go with Harry Kane.
According to sources, the SEG International firm that handles Ten Hag is reportedly also pursuing Hojlund as a client.
Hojlund, a Danish international who just recently relocated to Italy from Austrian club Sturm Graz last year, has scored 15 goals in 41 games for Atalanta. In his last two games for Denmark, he has scored five goals illegally.
When Ten Hag stated last month that players were “keen” on joining United, he later acknowledged that he had spoken with possible targets.
Ten Hag observed, “I see a big difference compared to last year.” “Last year, when I met with players, there were a lot of doubts, but today many players recognize the concept, what is happening, the energy and the ambition in this project, especially the quality. They are quite eager to go; I’ve noted that previous year, when we approached players, there appeared to be many misgivings and uncertainties. Many excellent players genuinely want to come this year.”
Randal Kolo Muani, the goal scorer for Eintracht Frankfurt, is still being watched by United. Muani led Eintracht to a seventh-place Bundesliga finish with 23 goals in 45 games.
Both Eintracht and Atalanta missed out on the Champions League, which may make the transfer process easier for prospective purchasing teams. Both Muani and Hojlund have contracts that expire in 2027.
Amad was purchased by United from Atalanta for a price that will increase to £37 million in 2020. Atalanta has earned a reputation for producing talented young players.
The agent of striker Benjamin Sesko, who was also groomed in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg, spoke with United last year.
